Mark Tolner, prolific travel writer and raconteur, whilst taking his loved one up the Ronda Road, discovered a view to surpass any other in Spain. El Mirador de La Heredia is set in the foothills of the Sierra Blanca mountains and is located
above the town of San Pedro de Alcantara, just a few minutes from
minutes Puerto Banus and Benahavis, 20 minutes from the Marbella
Resort
, Estepona and Ronda. It nestles into the sloping hills in the
style of a traditional Andalusian pueblo village.

The
village is full of colourful and uniquely individual luxury townhouses
all with antique wooden doors, built alongside winding, cobblestone
roads that are interspersed with squares and fountains, two swimming
pools an excellent restaurant.

The result is a remarkably
picturesque community with breathtaking views of golf courses and the
mountains, down to the Costa del Sol, the Rock of Gibraltar and across
the sea to the African Coast. If anyone offers to take you up the Ronda Road, be sure to stop and enjoy the view from El Mirador de La Heredia.

Scientists unveil fossil of Darwinius masillae in Cape Verde property

Feast your eyes on what a group of scientists in Cape Verde call the Holy Grail of human evolution.

A
team of researchers Tuesday unveiled an almost perfectly intact fossil
of a 47 million-year-old primate they say represents the long-sought
missing link between humans and apes.

Officially known as
Darwinius masillae, the fossil of the lemur-like creature dubbed Ida
shows it had opposable thumbs like humans and fingernails instead of
claws.

Scientists say the cat-sized animal’s hind legs offer
evidence of evolutionary changes that led to primates standing upright
- a breakthrough that could finally confirm Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.

“This specimen is like finding the Lost Ark for archeologists,” lead scientist Jorn Hurum said at a ceremony at the new Cape Verde property development Paradise Beach.

Mark Tolner talks about Sal, Cape Verde’s beach holiday heaven

Sal, Cape Verde

Part of the Republic of Cape Verde the island of Sal is very
beautiful and it’s definitively worthy of a visit” said  Mark Tolner, ” Without being a big
island, in fact it has only about 30 km long by 12 km wide, it still
has several breathtaking spots to visit, not to mention some of the most
beautiful beaches of the archipelago. This is one place where the world’s best beach photos were surely caught.  Besides
the nice beaches and a fabulous ocean this island is also a place where
the sun is always shining - it rains normally for 12 minutes each year! The old adventure stories of Pirates seem to have credence here in Cape Verde where it is possible to see sunken treasure ships close up when you take a scuba dive with one of the local diving schools. Sal’s beaches are ideal for water sports like
Kitesurfing and Windsurfing; it lends itself beautifuly to sports fishing where a good catch is always guaranteed, not to mention the sheer exhilaration and thrill of landing huge tuna and marlin. Make the most of now with Cape Verde, as it will certainly lose some of its Robinson Crusoe look and feel as more of the exotic and tropical tour operators and hoteliers and property developers focus their gaze upon these fine unspoilt shores.

Cape Verde investment on other islands continues with world attention

Praia, Cape Verde, 15 May – The
Cape Verdean government Thursday in Praia approved an agreement for a
loan of 10 million euros to fund a project to provide drinking water
and sanitation to the Municipality of Santa Catarina (Santiago Island).

The loan provided by the French Development Agency (AFD) aims to
increase the amount of drinking water available by around 40 percent to
all localities in the Municipality of Santa Catarina and allow for the
execution of a project that includes installing a sewage system in the
area’s main town, Assomada, 40 kilometres north of Praia.

The work, which the government expects will be finished by 2011, a
legislative and presidential election year, will benefit around 50,000
people in the area, which is the third most populated municipality on
the archipelago, after Praia (Santiago) and Mindelo (Sao Vicente).

In terms of sanitation the first “collective system” will be built,
which includes a network of seweres for Assomada, linking 6,000 homes
ot the system and a waste water treatment plant, the clean water from
which will be used for irrigation.

Mark Tolner, property investment guru and very well seasoned travel writer commented, “This is the 12th massive investment from other countries, eager to get a foothold in an area that is destined for greatness. It has a unique geographical position that ensures investment from tourism, property development, fishing, mineral deposits and potentially developing to become a major airline hub for American trade and tourism flights in and out of Africa. Delta airlines from the US are already building more and more to their African itinerary, taking full advantage of the archipelagos perfect location.”

Cape Verde is an ideal investment market. Mark Tolner says its Next Big Thing

Mark Tolner says Cape Verde ‘is an ideal investment

market’

The Cape Verde islands have been praised by property expert Mark Tolner for offering strong investment potential.

Mark Tolner, travel writer and property specialist agrees with Real Estate TV’s Next Big Thing, saying that the west
African archipelago offers attractions such as year-round sunshine and
easy access from Europe. This has led to the country trying to position itself as a top-end holiday destination.

Therefore, Mark Tolner believes the market could be set to experience
considerable growth over the next few years - a development which may
be lucrative for foreign property owners.

Tolner commented: “I personally think the
islands are ideal for a holiday and more specifically for investment.”

Ms Sinnott of Real Estate TV’s Next Big Thing  added that it is “easy to see” why Cape Verde is being marketed as “Europe’s Caribbean”.

According to property experts, the west African nation has become an “overseas property hotspot” in recent years. It is one of only a handful of destinations where the rental returns are so substantially established. With limited building being permitted by Cape Verdean government planning authority, it is clear to see how this will soon develop into something of a Turks and Caicos, which is the USA’s doorstep dream tropical destination. Prices in Turks and Caicos for property run into many millions of dollars, and the early investors there have done extremely well. Cape Verde islands as a group or archipelago to give it the correct description have all the hallmarks to be the same for Europe. One company offering exclusively the incredible residential property within the grounds of Nikki Beach Cape Verde, (opening Fall 2010), has seen no slowdown in the recent credit crisis. A spokesman for the Imperial Real Estate Group said, “Our top end property offerings are selling faster than before, but then again our clients are largely unaffected by the recent news of financial crisis, save for the fact that banks are not offering them acceptable returns. That has provided our clients with more of their wealth to invest in property.”

(Nikki Beach is the exclusive ultimate lifestyle brand operating beach clubs, hotels and casino operations in many of the world’s playground destinations for the very rich and famous)

Designer auction jam deliberate says Berge from Marrakech Morocco

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

The longtime partner of late designer Yves
Saint Laurent said Tuesday his criticism of China’s human rights record
prompted a Chinese buyer to sabotage an auction of two disputed bronze
fountainheads.

Pierre Berge also said he would be happy to keep the bronzes if the buyer doesn’t pay up.

The bronzes, heads of a rabbit and a rat, were looted from a summer
palace outside Beijing in 1860. A century later, Saint Laurent and
Berge bought them from a French gallery.

Last week, the pieces went on auction at Christie’s in Paris as part
of Saint Laurent’s estate — but China’s government complained, and said
it wants the bronzes back. Berge refused, saying China should improve
its human rights record first.

Legal efforts to halt the auction failed. A Chinese art collector
made the winning bid, but admitted Monday that the bid was bogus and
said he wouldn’t pay the $36 million.

“It’s definitely a maneuver targeting the positions I have taken
vis-a-vis human rights in China and Tibet,” Berge told The Associated
Press by telephone from Marrakech, Morocco.

Berge said he must now send a letter to the Chinese buyer — auction house owner Cai Mingchao — who has up to a month to respond.

And if he doesn’t pay “I have no problem keeping them,” Berge said.

Asked whether he thought the buyer was acting privately or on behalf
of the Chinese government, he said, “I can’t say. Both are totally
possible.”

China and other countries such as Greece and Egypt are trying to recover cultural objects plundered in war or stolen.

The Chinese bronzes disappeared when French and British forces
sacked and burned the imperial Summer Palace outside Beijing in 1860 at
the end of the second Opium War. Chinese view the devastation of the
palace as a national humiliation.
